【Case Study】Implementing GLASIAOUS at Both the Thai Factory and Japanese HQ Addressing Domestic and International Challenges to Improve Operational Efficiency and Strengthen Management Account

Tentac Co., Ltd.

Tentac Co., Ltd. (Tentac), a leading apparel auxiliary materials manufacturer with a top-class market share in RFID tags, decided to implement GLASIAOUS by Business Engineering (B-EN-G) when replacing its long-used ERP system at its Thai factory. This initiative sparked interest from the company's headquarters in Japan, leading to the decision to adopt GLASIAOUS at both locations.

As a result, the Thai factory was able to eliminate its reliance on Excel-based data management, significantly improving operational efficiency. Meanwhile, the Japanese headquarters has resolved the persistent issue of multi-currency support and accelerated the enhancement of management accounting.

Before
  • The ERP system used at the Thai factory was nearing the end of its support and was not fully integrated with peripheral systems.
  • The existing accounting system used at the head office in Japan did not have multi-currency capability.
  • It was difficult to make use of management accounting for business decision due to the limited registration of sub-accounts and the lack of budget control feature.
After
  • Breaking dependence on Excel-based operation in Thai subsidiary and streamlining operations.
  • By revising the chart of accounts and master settings, searchability has been improved, contributing to better data utilization for business management
  • By introducing the same accounting system at the two locations, problems at each company have been solved all at once.

In Thailand, GLASIAOUS is highly valued for its compliance with the local tax system. Additionally, the presence of Thai consultants who can provide direct support without language barriers is a significant positive factor for the local staff. In Japan, it was selected for its multi-currency capability and its ability to enhance management accounting, which was difficult with existing systems.

Issues of the Accounting System in Both Thailand and Japan

Tentac was founded as a wholesale business specializing in brand name tags, price tags, care labels, and packaging for apparel products. Over time, it has transformed into a comprehensive materials manufacturer that integrates both production and sales.

Atsuo Koizumi, Executive Officer, General Manager of the Administration Division, and Head of the Finance and Accounting Department, explains:

"Today, our core product is RFID tags, which enable high-speed, contactless data reading. Additionally, in response to the demands of the SDGs era, we are diversifying our business into the field of sustainable materials. This includes innovations like ‘Green Nano’, which significantly reduces CO2 emissions when incinerating plastic products, and the ‘Kamina Series’, which offers paper hooks and paper hangers with strength comparable to plastic."

As the company continues to expand its business, it has established multiple production bases both domestically and internationally. However, at one of these locations—the Thai factory—it faced significant challenges related to its business system.

"At our Thai factory, we were using a commonly used ERP system in Thailand, but the version was outdated, and the end of the service support period was approaching.  Additionally, the integration with our custom-developed production and sales management system had become a black box, making modifications difficult and often leading to data inconsistencies when changes were made." (Koizumi)

The Japanese headquarters was also struggling with accounting system-related challenges. Naoki Kubota, Manager of the Accounting Section, Finance & Accounting Department, explains:

"We were using a cloud-based Japanese accounting system, but the biggest issue was its lack of multi-currency support. Additionally, due to system limitations on data entry and storage, it lacked management accounting features such as sub-accounts and budget vs. actual analysis, which created operational bottlenecks. While the system offered a full-featured pricing plan that included accounting and other functionalities, it was too extensive for our needs, making the cost excessively high."

Comprehensive Support from Local Staff & IT Implementation Subsidy Assistance in Japan

As Tentac sought solutions to its challenges, GLASIAOUS( IT service of B-EN-G) emerged as a strong candidate, particularly in Thailand. Initially, the company considered local software packages and services, but a long-time consulting partner recommended GLASIAOUS.

"We found that GLASIAOUS met all our requirements, including compliance with Thai tax regulations, integrated management of accounts receivable/payable, sales, procurement, and accounting. Additionally, since B-EN-G has a local presence in Thailand, we could communicate in our language and receive reliable support, which gave us a great sense of security." (Koizumi)

Following this initiative, interest in GLASIAOUS quickly grew at the Japanese headquarters. Kubota explained,
"We were particularly attracted to its cloud-based nature—just like our previous system—its multi-currency support, and most importantly, its comprehensive features for enhancing management accounting. Using the same accounting system across both locations would also make data verification much easier."

Another key factor that encouraged the implementation of GLASIAOUS in Japan was the IT Implementation Subsidy application support.

The IT Implementation Subsidy, administered by Japan's Small and Medium Enterprise Agency, is a government grant designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in improving operational efficiency and advancing digital transformation (DX). GLASIAOUS qualifies under this program.

"B-EN-G, as an IT implementation support provider, assisted us throughout the application process, making it smooth and hassle-free." (Kubota)
